What are my options for paying employees?

Employees can be paid with either a direct deposit, paycheck that we print, or a check from your office.

How much does payroll cost?

Depending on your situation, your costs could include workers’ compensation insurance, social security tax, Medicare tax, and unemployment taxes.  For more details on costs, contact us.

How does my employee reduce the amount of taxes being withheld?

Employees can complete and update Form W4 at any time that they would like to make an adjustment to their federal tax withholding.  We can provide copies or forms can be found on the IRS website.

What exemptions can be applied to my employees?

Certain religious groups that oppose insurance programs can obtain social security, Medicare, and workers’ compensation exemptions. Exemptions are also available for the owner's family members.

How soon can we have checks prepared for employees?

From start to paychecks in the setup process is typically one week depending on the information provided by you. 

Who is considered an employee or subcontractor?

The short answer is an individual that is dependent on you for employment and which you can control their actions, is an employee. Contact us for more details.

How quickly is the payroll processed each week?

Payroll is reported on Mondays and Tuesdays and processed by the end of the day on Wednesday. Priority is set based on the time received.

Can I pay my employees a salary?

Employees that are eligible for a salary (exempt) need to pass a duties test.  Examples include administration, outside sales, professional, and management. Contact us for more details.

When are tax payments paid?

The larger the company, the larger the tax liability, the more frequent taxes need to be paid.  Tax payment schedules vary from every payroll to once per quarter.

Which employee documents are required?

All employees are required to complete an I9 form (employment eligibility form) and W4 Form (Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate).  In PA, the Residency Certificate is required for local taxes.  Additional forms are also required when exemptions apply.
