I want to start using QuickBooks, but where do I begin?

We can recommend the best version of QuickBooks for your needs. You can purchase the software yourself, or get us to purchase it for you. After your software arrives, we can come to your office, set up the file, and enter the beginning balances and other start-up data. All the work is done by experienced QuickBooks advisors, giving you the confidence that you are beginning with an accurate file.

Will I lose all my bookkeeping data if my computer crashes?

QuickBooks has an easy backup feature built directly into the software. In our training, we make sure you know how to back up and store your QuickBooks data so that you have a good copy of your file if your computer ever crashes.

What if I want support for longer than four months?

You can sign up for a QuickBooks Support package that gives you support for one year. During that year, you can call us with your questions at no additional charge. You will also get a review of your bookkeeping file each month or quarter. If you like, we can also reconcile your checking account each month.

I don't have experience with QuickBooks. How easy is it to learn?

QuickBooks makes it easy to learn by using forms that look similar to standard paper records. When you write a check, the computer form will look like a paper check, and you will enter your information directly into that form. In addition, during our setup process we will train you to use QuickBooks correctly.

How long does the setup process take?

The initial setup of QuickBooks takes two to six weeks, depending on the complexity of your business. After the setup, we continue to give you support for four months. Each month, we check in with you to review your file, answer any questions, and give you more training if needed. You can also call us with your questions or problems in between the monthly check-ups. At the end of the four months, most people feel comfortable using the software.

Do you offer any workshops or training sessions?

Gehman Accounting offers QuickBooks training workshops periodically. The workshops cover accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking activities, job costing, reports, and much more. During each workshop, you will have hands-on practice using QuickBooks.
