In 2012, Sam joined a roofing crew and, after two years, transitioned to assisting his dad in construction. They gave their business the name, Jaguar Construction, where they employed about five workers. After 2020, Jaguar Construction experienced a significant growth spurt and expanded into a company of 35 employees. With their broadening of opportunities, Jaguar Construction focused on more new and commercial projects and less on remodeling projects. With these changes, the company name changed to Jaguar Buildings, LLC. Their growth allowed them to branch out into multiple crews and create an in-house spray foam company called Good Fella Spray Foam.
Growth brought unique challenges to Sam and Jaguar Buildings, LLC. These challenges prompted him to reach out to Gehman Business Advising. His advisor, Ken, helped Sam consider how his numbers could help him and how he could depend on numbers when calculated accurately. He guided him in understanding how to calculate overhead when employing bigger work crews. Ken provided input on how to price different jobs and how to calculate employees’ hourly rates. Business growth prompted Jaguar Buildings, LLC to significantly shift the structure of operations, and they discovered that change requires a proper change order. Having an advisor walk with them in these changes provided them with clarity and confidence.
In 2023, Jaguar Buildings, LLC received the Building of the Year Judges’ Award from the National Frame Building Association for their excellent craftsmanship on the Friske Farm Market in Ellsworth, Michigan. This distinguished award highlighted their excellent craftsmanship of the interior detail of the market alongside their superior work on the building structure.
Sam and Jaguar Buildings, LLC are working on building a commercial office building where clients may browse a showroom and meet their staff. They are grateful for the clarity gained amid significant business challenges and for how doors have opened for them to serve many more clients with confidence.
